GAMAS CHANG
Gamas Chang is the founder and the principal instructor of American Young Coder (AYC) academy. He is a veteran Software Architect and Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the software industry. He has worked in several major studios in Southern California, such as Walt Disney Studios, Dreamworks Animation (the studio that made Shrek and Kung Fu Panda animation movies), and HBO (the studio that made Game of Thrones). You can be confident that you are getting the best education for you and your kids to learn Computer Programming and Software Development.

JOSHUA WIDJANARKO

Joshua is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) with a B.S in Machine Learning and Neural Computation -Cognitive Science Major in 2023. He primarily utilizes Python to build and research Machine Learning Models, ranging from computer vision to LLM (Large Language Models). In addition, Joshua has studied abroad at Yonsei University, South Korea, to pursue Deep Learning research, aimed at tackling wildfire detection.  He is currently volunteering a 4Human Corporation as a part of their backend team, building an e-commerce donation platform for a charity in Uganda using JavaScript, Express.js, PostgreSQL, and applying to graduate school. Outside of CS, he loves to develop tabletop roleplaying tools, build video game concepts and stories with friends, and help people plan travel experiences abroad.

BILL HAN
Bill is a student currently attending UCI. He has mastered the Python programming language and is also proficient in Java, C#, and C++. Bill has created several complex computer games, such as Bird Fighting Games and Tank Wars. Please look at the video below. As a hobby, he makes multiplayer games using the Unity engine. Outside of computer science, he is an Eagle Scout of Troop 174. Bill has also participated in speech and debate with an outside academy. He has basic knowledge of 3-D modeling software such as Blender, SolidWorks, and SketchUp. He is currently teaching Scratch and Python programming languages at American Young Coder Academy.

DARIN DJAPRI

Darin is majoring in his third year in Computer Science at UC San Diego, doing research under SU lab for robotic control with machine learning. He is proficient in multiple languages, including Python, C, C++, Java, and has experience in various domains such as mobile, web, and systems development. He worked as a Math/Physics tutor at the college level during his time at De Anza College, alongside volunteer tutoring through Cub Support.
As a software developer for UCSD’s Triton Droids, he uses reinforcement learning in physics simulators such as MuJoCo through Python to train humanoid loco-manipulation capabilities. Outside of coding, he loves to play the piano and guitar as well as basketball.

JOEL SUWANTO

Joel is an avid programmer who is currently an undergraduate computer science student at Bina Nusantara University (Binus). He is proficient in many programming languages such as Python, Java, and C/C++. He has a very good grasp of object-oriented programming and algorithms. These days, he specializes in AI/Machine Learning. When he isn’t coding, he enjoys playing the piano and the violin as a pastime.

ABIGAIL CHANG

Abigail is currently a student at Pasadena City College majoring in Data Science. She is fluent in Python & Java and has taken an interest in AI & Machine Learning, specifically researching ML applications in neurodevelopmental disorders. As a ML Research Engineer at PCC’s Decoded Brain, she has worked on training a CNN model to detect Alzheimer’s disease through binary classification. Additionally, she has worked on projects such as web applications through Python Flask and clicker games through Java. In her free time she enjoys singing & dancing to K-pop songs and drawing on her ipad. She currently teaches Scratch and Python at American Young Coder Academy.

BRANDON GOUW

Brandon is currently a university student pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence at Bina Nusantara University (BINUS). He has developed and managed online gaming platforms (Minecraft Server using Spigot plugin), achieving up to 200 daily active players at its peak with thousands of revenue. Brandon is currently developing real-estate system using Java, Spring-Boot, Hibernate and MySQL technology stacks. Brandon is Proficient in Java OOP principles, C++, Spring Boot, and MySQL, He enjoys working on projects, exploring new technologies, and reading to broaden his knowledge. Outside of coding, he actively participates in student organizations in his university and enjoys discovering new books across a variety of subjects.

ISAAC CHENG

Isaac is an incoming Computer Science major at UC Irvine, transferring from Pasadena City College. He has experience with Python, Java, and C++ programming as well as Bash scripting and web development. Some of Isaac’s projects include Discord bots made with discord.py and a personal website. Isaac was in Cohort 4 of the AI LA IDEAS machine learning program, and he is a member of the PCC AI Club board. He has also tutored computer science at PCC’s Success Center.

Scratch Coding Instructors

For Scratch Level 1 and Level 2 coding instructors, aside from Gamas Chang, we have several gifted High School students who teaches these Scratch courses. Whichever instructor you are getting, you will be taught the same high quality curriculum. These Scratch curriculums are designed to prepare kids to eventually learn Python and Java programming languages.
